Debrecen, Hungary—The Minos™ Abdominal Aortic Stent-Graft and Delivery System (“Minos™ Stent Graft System”), which is developed by Shanghai MicroPort Endovascular MedTech (Group) Co., Ltd. (“Endovastec™”) and now available in nine overseas markets, successfully completed its first implantation in Hungary in a recent operation.

The procedure was performed by a team led by Drs. Csaba Toth and Istvan Lazar at the University Hospital of Debrecen, Hungary. Preoperative imaging revealed a short and twisted neck of the patient’s abdominal aortic aneurysm, adding to the procedure’s complexity. The Minos™ System features a three-piece design and its iliac limbs are woven by a single wire in a spiraling pattern, which ensures proximal anchorage while conforming to the vessel morphology, thus avoiding postoperative endoleaks. In view of these features, the team chose the Minos™ Stent Graft System for the patient. Postoperative imaging confirmed the effective isolation of the aneurysm with good stent morphology and no endoleaks. “The stent conformed very well to the patient’s anatomy and was released at the precise location,” commented the surgeon after the procedure.

As a new generation of abdominal aortic stent graft system independently developed by Endovastec™, Minos™ Stent Graft System is designed for the interventional therapy of abdominal aortic aneurysm with proximal neck length at or above 15mm. Its ultra-low profile delivery system with an outer-diameter of 14F (<5mm) significantly reduces the vessel access required for the endovascular aneurysm repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms, providing a better solution for patients with complex abdominal aortic anatomy, especially those with tortuous, or narrow access vessel arteries. The Minos™ System features a three-piece design which enables flexible assembly to accommodate different size requirements. Its main body was constructed from a laser-cut M-stent with integrated barbs and covered with seamless woven graft, and its iliac limbs are woven by a single wire in a spiraling pattern. The advanced core technologies are able to meet the treatment needs of a wider range of abdominal aortic aneurysms with complex anatomy, which reduces the rate of complications such as device migration, endoleaks or occlusion, and thus lower the risk of long-term reintervention.

Zhenghua Miao, President of Endovastec™, said, “One year after it was introduced to the overseas market, the Minos™ Stent Graft System has now been widely recognized by experts for its excellent clinical performance in countries across Europe and South America, providing a better solution for patients with complex abdominal aortic anatomy. We will continue to strengthen in-depth cooperation with clinical experts overseas to further accelerate overseas reach, and provide more inclusive and quality ‘Chinese solutions’ to more patients worldwide.”
